5 Day Nutritive Cleanse: Young Living

There are so many reasons why people choose to cleanse. Maybe you need a jumpstart to a healthier journey. Maybe you need to lose those last stubborn 5 pounds. Maybe you just don’t feel like yourself and need a change. Maybe you want to rid yourself from the need for caffeine. No matter the reason, cleansing is a great thing to do for yourself each season. Your body was designed for greatness and if it isn’t functioning the way you’d like, it may be time for a reset.

What is it?

This cleanse allows for a temporary reduction in food intake so your body is able to rid the toxin build up you acquired over the season. Your body will still be provided the nutrients your body requires to run effectively, but without the added junk load.

Dawn: I was ok. I did miss my morning coffee as it is cold in Michigan, but I decided to have hot water instead. It helped sipping on something. I wasn’t hungry, but I did have some stomach bloating, but no running to the bathroom or upset stomach. I didn’t feel bad other than a slight headache that I conquered with water, oils and an extra 2oz of NingXia Red. I was very tired though. I went to bed with the kids at their bedtime.

Adam: I wasn’t as tired as Dawn, but I was “hangry” as the saying goes. I just wanted to eat more, but didn’t feel starved, just not full. I went to the bathroom, but not running to it like I thought I would be.


Dawn: I felt so tired! Most likely my lack of caffeine, but I can tell you if I could have taken a nap I would have! After my third serving of NingXia, I was able to make it through making dinner for the family, lunches for my kids and 2 hours of soccer after work. I went to bed a little later at 9:45pm.

Adam: I did not have a headache, but was colder than usual. I was able to stick to the cleanse and not cheat. Win!


Dawn: I feel like I made it today! I felt my energy return, my headaches are gone and I am still not hungry. I can say that I am not a fan of vanilla, as the Balance Complete is vanilla, so I added a teaspoon of raw cocoa powder to make it chocolate. MUCH BETTER. I am a dark chocolate fiend, so this was much more satisfying. I went to bed at 10:30 PM, even though I left the house for an early morning staff meeting before work as my energy was returning. Side Note: I am a fourth grade teacher, until June of this year when I am retiring!

Adam: I realized that I didn’t hit an afternoon slump yesterday or today. I haven’t needed coffee or any energy drink. I am not hungry, but I want to taste food.


Dawn: I can do this! This is getting easier by the day. I don’t feel grumpy or tired. I am down a few pounds and my waist is showing a slim down. My energy has returned. I still am not hungry. I was even able to figure out two practices and still fit in my first Facebook Live Question and Answer about Young Living at 8pm that evening after teaching all day.

Adam: I feel fine. I just miss clean tacos.


Dawn: My last 24 hour was EASY! I feel so much healthier. I lost an inch or so off my waist, about 5lbs and don’t crave as much junk as before. I will most likely continue having a shake for breakfast lunch and an apple or a peach for snack with a sensible dinner. I am not craving what I was, so that makes it easier to continue the lifestyle.

Adam: I made it! My natural energy returned and I lost about 2-3lbs from my morning weight. Now, clean tacos.

What do you eat?

What are the snack choices?

Snacks are not required, but I loved them! It was great to be able to “chew” something as most cleanses are all drink based.

Mid Morning Snack Choices:

  • 1 piece of fresh fruit such as an apple, pear, orange, peach or plum
  • 2 cups sliced cataloupe
  • 1 serving Slique Tea
  • 2 tablespoons raw sunflower seeds or almonds.

Mid-Afternoon Snack Choices:

  • include 1 cup of fresh non-starchy vegetable (broccoli, asparagus, cucumber, green beans, celery, carrots)
  • 1 serving Slique Tea
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 serving rice crackers topped with raw nut butter
  • 2 tablespoons raw sunflower seeds or almonds
  • 1 cup unsweetened yogurt
  • 1 Slique bar

Evening Snack Choices:

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 piece of fresh fruit (apple, pear, orange, peach or plum)
  • 1 cup red, purple or black seedless grapes
  • 1 cup miso soup or vegetable broth.

Helpful Tid-Bits

  • Drink plenty of water during the cleanse. You can add your favorite vitality oil to your water to give some flavor such as Peppermint Vitality, Thieves Vitality, Grapefruit Vitality, Lemon Vitality, Orange Vitality and Lime Vitality.
  • You can also take up to 2 NingXia Nitro tubes per day to boost energy, which I should have done the first two days. 
  • You may also choose to chew Slique Gum as needed to control your cravings.
  • I never had to “run” to the bathroom, but your bathroom may smell like peppermint near the end of the cleanse.
  • I didn’t have a need for deodorant the last two days.
  • If you hate vanilla, like myself, I used a teaspoon or raw cacao powder when I blended my shake. This helped me like the shake. Chocolate is always yummy in my opinion.

Next time, I will try doing this cleanse with the Young Living Pure Protein Chocolate Powder, two bottles of NingXia Red, the NingXia packets (easier for work), a bottle of Digest and Cleanse, and purchase NingXia Nitro for my first two days. This way, I would have a dairy free option and it would be chocolate! I have the booklet, so it would be easy to replace to fit my needs.
