CBD Oil

You all know I love natural remedies and CBD oil is natural. I truly believe that God placed everything on Earth for us to thrive, this being one of those plants with benefits. Although, when I heard this oil is being titled a “cure all” oil, you know I had to start reading about CBD.

This oil is very controversial since it comes from the marijuana plant. Many people have strong feelings around this topic. I am not here to argue, judge or debate, but rather to share what I have learned and am still learning about this oil, so you can make your own informed decision. Shall we?

What is CBD Oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol, is one of the primary natural cannabinoids, as there are over 113 found in the industrial hemp plant. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that bind the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) receptors throughout your brain and body.

Many people get CBD oil confused with Hemp oil. They are different because CBD is extracted from the flowers, leaves, and stalks of hemp whereas Hemp Oil is extracted from the seed. If you are familiar with essential oils, this does make a big difference.

Also, hemp is completely different from marijuana in its function, cultivation, and application. So, CBD oil and marijuana are not the same.

Can you get high from CBD?

It’s important to note that while some people confuse CBD with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is also found in the cannabis plant, the two are different. CBD is not psychoactive and does not cause the euphoric side effects commonly associated with THC. That means you can use CBD products without having to worry about THC causing any sort of reaction.

While CBD and THC both bind to the CB-2 receptor, they interact with the CB-1 receptors in different ways. Because of its molecular structure, THC is able to bind directly with CB-1 receptors. When this bond is formed, the reaction creates signals that are sent to the brain, which results in the the psychoactive effects of “getting high.” Research shows that CBD does not bond directly with CB-1 receptors*, and its presence can even negate the bond between THC and the CB-1 receptors, effectively neutralizing the psychoactive effects induced by THC.

Bottom line, no, CBD will not get you high. CBD is a cannabinoid that does NOT have euphoric side effects.

Is CBD safe?

CBD is considered “generally well-tolerated with a good safety profile” according to a 2018 World Health Organization report. Of course, I have to suggest speaking with your doctor. I am also ONLY speaking about Young Living’s CBD as I trust their Seed to Seal guarantee.

Also, here is an excellent post by Lindsey Elmore about special populations of people to help you feel more informed before discussing it with your doctor.

How does CBD work?

Research shows that many ailments may be related to dysregulation of the endocannabinoid system. We will call the endocannabinoid system ECS for short. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is made up of endocannabinoids and their receptors.

I learned CBD interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which regulates or supports processes in the body such as appetite, pain, mood, memory, nervous system, etc… Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body. For example, they are found in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells.

In a nutshell, the endocannabinoid system needs to be balanced. While the ECS works uniquely in each part of the body, the goal is balance for proper functioning or what is known as homeostasis.

What can CBD do?

To be honest, I came across so many testimonies about what this oil supports and it seems too good to be true. I have read about anxiety, stress, brain function, mood support, nervous system, etc… While, I cannot intend to treat or diagnose, since I am just a mom and not a doctor, I can suggest talking with your doctor about using Young Living’s CBD oil to support your body’s homeostasis.

Bottom line, after what I have learned, I believe CBD can be a supportive oil when you find a clean, safe and trusted source which is why I love Young Living. There is incredible supportive power stored in those tiny Seed to Seal drops! I hope this post helps you make your own informed decision about CBD.
